Sarah Sadie Myers
SARAH SADIE MYEERS
Members of BHC mourn the loss of Sarah Sadie Myers, mother of BHC Past President Bernice Dinner, grandmother of Tara Kaplan, and great-grandmother of Teva, Raya, and Jonah Kaplan.

Sarah Sadie visited North Country several times during the last eight years. With each visit, she brought her indomitable spirit, good-natured humor, and unwavering love of Judaism. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of many topics of Jewish thought and learning, and she relished opportunities for spirited discussions. It was a pleasure for all of us to be part of  her joy in each day's social moments and happenings.

Sarah Sadie's funeral is Tuesday, February 16, in Denver,Colorado. A memorial service for family and friends in North Country will be announced by the Dinner-Kaplan families.
TZEDAKAH
Mazon - A Jewish Response to Hunger
This spring season sparkling with events and gatherings for Purim and Passover, we celebrate our people's freedom from bondage. It is a time for us to also make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Mazon asks that we take action against hunger by donating tzedakah to help the millions who face hunger every day. Donate to Mazon what you would spend on a shalach manot basket or a seder dinner for one additional guest.

Haiti - The Disaster Situation Continues
Rabbi Kevin Hale of Congregation Beth-El suggests that we  consider donating through a Jewish organization as an intentional Jewish act of tzedakah. Among the many organizations is the American Jewish World Service, 45 West 36th Street, 11th floor
New York, NY 10018-7904 - 212.792.2900

PROVERBS FOR CONTEMPLATION
The wise man, even when he holds his tongue, says more than the fool when he speaks.

What you don't see with your eyes, don't invent with your mouth.
A wise man hears one word and understands two.

Intellectuals solve problems; geniuses prevent them.

You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.

From BHC Member
Emily Cowan ...
This year I discovered the miracle of enough. On the first night of Chanukah, some friends and I were discussing the meaning of the oil story.

They suggested  that the people believed that there was enough oil, despite appearances to the contrary. And then I understood the miracle.

When I let myself accept that what is before me and can be and is enough; whe  I let go of my fears of not getting my needs met; when I stop pushing and start embracing ... suddenly there is enough. And the second miracle: there is room for more. My acceptance softens things, creates safety, and nurtures trust.

From trust is born action, and from action flows change.
