The congregation is invited to a Rosh Hashana potluck lunch at a private home followed by Tashlich at the nearby Ammonoosuc River.
With Tashlich, we seek to symbolically "cast away" our accumulated sins and transgressions, so that we may purify our hearts and our souls as the New Year begins. Don’t forget to bring bird seed to toss in the river.
All are invited to bring wine, drinks, dairy, and vegetarian foods. We will usher in the Jewish New Year by joyously blessing and eating foods that grow abundantly and symbolize prosperity:
Apples for Sweetness
Dates for Peace
Green Beans for Prosperity
Pomegranate for Miztvot
Pumpkin for Happiness
Beetroot Leaves for Freedom
Leeks for Friendship
Head of Lettuce for Leadership
Please contact Tashlich coordinator Gail by Tuesday, September 12, to let her know what you’ll be bringing. Main dishes will be especially appreciated.
Directions to the potluck will be available in the back of the sanctuary, or by email here.
