Part 4: Closed with a Kiss
The ultimate gesture of love, bit by bit
Friday, August 7th 9:30 - 10:30 am via Zoom.
Explore the gestures of love in four seated Awareness Through Movement® lessons that can be done from any place with special meaning to students – as long as it has an internet signal. The “Love” begins with a topical reading selected by Rabbi Donna Kirshenbaum followed by a guided, body-based meditation. Along the way, learn about the life of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, his ahead-of-his-time ideas on learning, maturity and human potential. Lessons are appropriate for people of all abilities, body types, levels of fitness, faiths and spiritual orientations.

The BHC summer Feldenkrais series, Awareness in the Sanctuary, modified for the summer of Covid-19, is in its third year. Awareness Through Movement® is Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais’ life work and gift to humanity. The practice is a form of body-based meditation of simple, small, and extreme low-impact movements bring students’ attention to how we habitually move, while giving the nervous system clues to finding easier, more comfortable alternatives. Students find that, after a session, they walk taller, often forgetting old pains or habits. Dr. Feldenkrais is well-known in Israel; recent coverage in the New York Times and Washington Post have introduced his work to a bigger audience. Jacki Katzman, BHC member and Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner® leads these sessions.
