Eliezar’s String / afterthoughts - Judith Felsen Poems
Eliezer’s String*
I dreamt we were in future time, Moschiach’s time,
about three hundred years from now
although by then all sense of time was different.
There was no form of anyone or anything
as need for occupying space as individuals was gone.
Instead, there were so many glowing strings of light,
all moving gently in a peaceful universe.
Some strings were brighter, larger, more circular,
elliptical or kidney shaped,
all dancing softly to an unheard melody,
a hum, niggun perhaps, Moschiach’s song.
The brighter strings were more connected to their source,
but all were formed by light.
The ceaseless vastness of this scene was one of pure connection.
No solo thought or personal identity was possible.
There was no need for self.
There was only oneness/Oneness,
glowing strings of oneness/Oneness,
Eliezer’s string, Your sparks.

…afterthoughts…
Perhaps the prayer of Eliezer is a glowing string
extending from the oneness of its source,
no time or space intruding on the essence of his words.
With solely Torah, mitzvot as intention,
self does not intrude to interrupt his will at one with Yours.
The world responds, as marriage of the upper and the lower
shows us that it can be done, as we are asked are to do it now.
We crack the casings of the glowing string ,
reveal Your light, release ourselves and all the world.
In living Torah, mitzvot, we, Your shlichus,
are Your Eliezer, single minded emissaries,
Your servants in this world
yet connected with Your sparks of Love.
