Leah’s Tale - A Judith Felsen Poem

Leah’s Tale

In the space it takes to move in  time from Kislev’s crescent moon to full,

your story does remind me yet again,  that I may now relinquish tears for vision.

As I see beyond the blur of self which blinds my view,

I reconcile what I want with what could be for all.

How clearly may I see that my will served delineates a tiny sphere,

while letting go of that which I need not, can raise this world and reach to all above.

The boundaries of my earthly heritage do not serve to help me make this choice.

Instead I need to say farewell to all familiar means in time

of meeting goals and winning outcomes, liberating self to choose

another path for my success.

I look beyond myself and then see you/You,

and choose what is Your will for us and those to come.

In this my eyes are dried, my sight is clear and I in vision see

the smallness of the little self   which I have left behind

and all that was the source of all my tears.

For you, my Rachel, are my other half

and I cannot achieve myself alone.

I have the choice tonight to cry for self and seek for solo comfort,

or to say farewell to tired wails of  want and bitterness

so that my  eyes forgiving do see you/You, and my  heart forgiven now sees us/Us.
